The Client.
Phase One Industrial is dedicated to research, development, and the manufacturing of specialized industrial and airborne cameras, aerial imaging systems, aero-photography flight planning and management solutions, and image capture and processing software. The company is a global leader of specific applications such as aerial mapping and surveying, ground and aerial inspection, agriculture, machine vision, and homeland security.
The Brief.
Phase One Industrial approached us to build their digital presence with PPC campaigns on Google Ads and Linkedin Ads.
Prior to approaching us, their website had very little traffic, and they did not take advantage of any paid advertising channel. Most of their leads came from offline channels.
Conducting thorough keyword research was a primary goal here.
It was a challenge to filter out consumer searches for “cheap drone camera” and focus only on business buyers looking for high-end aerial cameras.
We tackled this by building a solid negative keyword list, accompanied by deep research of competitors’ model terms, high-end drone models, and technical terms known only to the industrial users of Phase One Industrial’s equipment.
- Our google account had +11,000 keywords in +3000 ad groups, with campaigns for each country we targeted.
- We built a remarketing campaign for website visitors and YouTube channel viewers
- We built a video campaign for each product video.
- We used managed placements, targeting hand-picked websites and videos which were discussing only high-end cameras.
- Over the next year, the campaigns brought dozens of leads with sales opportunities showing a potential of 500% return on ad spend.
Linked campaign
For LinkedIn ads, we chose the InMail ad format coming from the Head of Sales, with a more detailed explanation of the product and its benefits.
- We used both Member Groups and Member Skills targeting options.
- We built several campaigns, each one around specific group types such as GIS, Drones, and others.
- We built another campaign targeting Member Skills with aerial photography skills.
- For optimization, we created several types of ads, and used breakdown by geography to optimize by country.
- LinkedIn conversion tracking was installed on the thank you page using Google Tag Manager.
